On December 11, Mark and Karen Pickerings’ lives changed forever when Mark experienced a devastating stroke. Karen has lived her dream for the past 20 years, using her skill and talent to build a community through the Northwest Horse Source Magazine. From event and charity promotion, to celebrating regional personalities, to supporting horse related products and services, the magazine connects like-minded people and helps them thrive.
Ten years ago, Mark joined the growing business. The temporary loss of Karen’s business partner, accumulation of medical expenses and the additional costs associated with outfitting their home to accommodate Mark’s immediate needs have been overwhelming. Within the first two weeks following the stroke, the Pickerings accumulated over $52,000 in out of pocket expenses not covered by major medical. On Sunday, March 1st, starting at 11, you can help the Pickerings shoulder this new burden while enjoying a delicious luncheon, an auction and ranch sorting event.
The benefit will be held at the Lynden Equine Events Center and feature both a silent and live auction of quality goods and services of all kinds, plus a ranch sorting jackpot with Roger Braa. Contact Tresie Wiersma for info on the ranch sorting: [email protected] or search Facebook for “Ranch Sorting at the Equine Events Center.” To donate items or for questions email [email protected].
