Home » Blog » News

Watching the magnificent 6666 Ranch colts charge into the Alltech Arena at Road to the Horse is simply unforgettable. The running of the remuda is the true magic of the Road to the Horse competition. It’s generations of the world’s best American Quarter Horses embodied in one exceptional remuda. Set for stardom, the colts will embark on the journey of a lifetime when they make their way to Lexington, Kentucky. The colts take center stage at Road to the Horse on March 19-22, 2020.

Founded in 2003, Road to the Horse strives to entertain and educate fans in the art of natural horsemanship. Road to the Horse challenges the world’s best equestrians to build a partnership with an untrained 3-year-old American Quarter Horse across three intense days of competition. Fans witness the entire journey, from colt selection to the final obstacle challenge. Road to the Horse features a $100,000 purse and competitors battle for horsemanship’s most sought-after title.

“Horsemanship’s most coveted colt starting title wouldn’t be possible without world-class colts,” says Western Horseman Publisher Ernie King. “We’re honored to welcome the 6666 Ranch back to Road to the Horse in 2020 for the tenth consecutive year. The partnerships that Road to the Horse competitors form with these colts is truly amazing.”

The 6666 Ranch has assembled a selection of their finest for Road to the Horse 2020. Selected by Dr. Glenn Blodgett, the ten untouched colts in the 2020 remuda represent the perfect blend of proven Road to the Horse sires and new bloodlines. The sires of the Road to the Horse 2020 Remuda from the 6666 Ranch are: Bet Hesa Cat, Guthrie City Limits, Jesses Topaz, Natural Bottom, and Sixes Pick.

The health and well-being of the remuda is paramount to both Road to the Horse and the 6666 Ranch.  Blodgett goes to great lengths to create the best possible environment for the colts to learn, develop, and succeed at the event.

“Every year after Road to the Horse, I look back and see what we can do to improve the health, welfare, and presentation of the colts we bring to the event. To me, these horses are like my family,” states Dr. Glenn Blodgett. “It’s a really rewarding feeling to see part of your family perform at this event. It’s very special.”

Road to the Horse has assembled a selection of the world’s top colt starters for 2020. The three championship competitors selected to compete for the $100,000 purse are Wade Black, Craig Cameron, and Ken McNabb.
