What a different world from when I last sat here to write our monthly update. In mid-March, Wild Hearts suspended meetings for several weeks in response to the COVID-19 outbreaks. With no students coming on-site, it’s easy to lose sight of the ministry heart of Stonewater and Youth Dynamics. But we are preparing for when we welcome students back on site.
Earlier this spring, Milo and Dally each calmly accepted wearing a saddle. Jackson and Creed are close behind them in this experience. Everyone also got their first hoof trims. We are thankful to have an understanding farrier (who is a fellow Mustang owner) to help us make this important part of domestic horse life a positive thing.
Another major change is happening with Youth Dynamics Stonewater Mustangs, as I (Dorothea) am expecting my second baby. This means no starting colts or working with young, green horses. I will still be involved in coaching and as a consultant, but am having to step away from the daily, physical work.
If you know a horseman who loves Jesus and has colt-starting experience, we want to bring someone onto the team to continue the Mustang’s saddle training this spring and summer. Contact Ken at [email protected] if you or someone you know is interested in helping us bring these horses along.

It is our mission to build an all Mustang herd of trail horses while sharing Christ with Northwest teens. Pairing youth and Mustangs creates a dynamic relationship where both parties can learn, grow, and thrive as successful members of their respective communities.
