Perfect Weather Helps Make Annual Event Fun for All
The weather was perfect for the third annual American Blazer Horse Association (ABHA) fund raiser poker ride, held September 29th. Most of the smoke from nearby forest fires that plagued the valley since July was gone, the sun was shining, the weather cooler, and the stage was set for a fun-filled day of riding with new and old friends, while raising needed operating funds for ABHA. Over 50 riders and supporters turned out for the ride, held at the ‘Little Gulch’ area of the Eagle foothills, located about five miles north of Eagle in Idaho’s Treasure Valley. After the ride, most of the riders and supporters enjoyed socializing over a great BBQ lunch. Two lucky riders, Ivan Pupulidy and Ramona Lindsey, won the top ‘first’ and ‘second’ poker hands, with prizes donated by local vendors. A third lucky rider, Arlynn Hacker, won the 50/50 cash raffle. ABHA appreciates the support and prize donations provided by many area vendors. ABHA is also grateful to M3 Companies who own the area where the ride was held. M3 has been very gracious to the horse community by allowing equestrian use of their foothills property and simply requesting that riders obtain prior permission to ride, and are courteous and respectful of the area. ABHA also thanks all the riders, participants and volunteers that made the ride a success! Funds raised this year will help pay operating expenses and overhead for the ABHA this coming year.
